Konawa High School track teams competed in the Class 2A Regional at Velma-Alma on Saturday with both squads qualifying a good number of athletes for state. The State meet will be held at Mustang High School Friday and Saturday, 4-5. Individual boy medalists in the top three for coach Gordon Garner included a second place finish in the long jump by Cylas Foster (18'10"), and another second place by Tyler Henshall in the high jump at 5'6". William Narcomey was 2nd in the shot put with a toss of 39"7.5". Josh Henson was a strong 3rd in the 800m run at 2:08l.52. The 400m Relay of Wayne Phillips, Josh Henson, Jordan Garner and Cylas Foster placed 3rd at 48.28. In the girls division coach Don Gallagher had several athletes turn in stellar performances to set two new school records. Jacklyn Nail blistered the field in both hurdle events. Her winning time of 15.28 in the 100m intermediate hurdles is the best posted this season in class 2A and establishes a new school record. She also took the gold medal in the 300m low hurdles at 46.58. Her previous mark of 45.87 at last week's Konawa Invitational is also the best mark posted so far. Christina Gladden also set a new school mark in the 1600m run with a time of 5:53.87 in a third place finish in that event. Kassandra McClain was third in the 800m run at 2:33.66 while Natalie Walker placed third in the high jump at 4'6". The 1600m Relay quartet of Chelsa Porter, Kelsey Howard, Kassandra McClain and Jacklyn Nail was second at 4:24.24.
