Mascot Maintenance Long Overdue "Meet me at the Tiger!" How many times have you heard that reference to our most well known campus landmark? The old guy was really showing his age lately. Since he was installed over twenty years ago, it seems he's only had one health check. Rob Chew, former transportation director, tells us "In '94 or '95 Charles Brooks and I took him to the Bus Shop and repaired several large bullet holes with fiberglass and repainted it with automotive paint with a paint gun, air brush and a coat of clearcoat." The last ten years have also taken their toll, so Principals Stidham and Marlow assigned the task of grooming the tiger to Mrs. Hill and our art classes.

![]() You may have thought he had gone AWOL, but the truth is that our old mascot had earned a few weeks at the health spa. The sign and tiger were only down for a short time. Ed Ward, our campus carpenter, electrician, and maintenance man extraordinaire, did a little much needed dental repair. Then the art classes took over by cleaning and preparing the surface for a new coat of paint. Mrs. Hill and her students have done a great job of pampering our mascot.

![]() The old sign was so rusted and thin that a completely new one was made to replace it. Our grounds staff and custodians all pitched in to put the new sign and repainted tiger back in place. Although there were some tense moments, they got him back on his pedestal in grand style for all to see.
