| Mrs. Henry, the first lady of Oklahoma, came to Konawa on Friday, February 28, 2003. She appeared in the Performing Arts Center during the weekly elementary program, Tiger Talk. The Konawa Elementary faculty is emphasizing the importance of reading. They are encouraging each student to read for an hour each day. Mrs. Henry spoke at the assembly where all of the elementary students got a chance to meet and see her in person. |
|
| The elementary students recited the Pledge of Allegiance and the Oklahoma flag salute. The KHS Band also played a few songs for this special occasion such as: The Star Spangled Banner, Oklahoma, and the Konawa fight song, Our Director. |
| The elementary students who earned the most points by reading each day were given the opportunity to listen to Mrs. Henry read a book to them. Mrs. Henry's visit to our school allowed all of the students to see the importance of reading and to discover what a genuine person she is. |
