The Konawa High School Cheerleaders: Meet the Squad!

This year, the cheerleaders have been very busy with fundraising. The first fundraising that they did was the face painting. This is a huge hit, especially in the elementary. This proves Konawa School has got the spirit and love to support their teams. Another successful fundraiser that was done was the Konawa All-Stars Mini Poms. This fundraiser brought in over $1,200.00 for the Cheerleaders for the upcoming year. What a success! The camp was three afternoons long, with snacks being provided and served by the cheerleaders and their parents. We had close to 60 students from the grades Pre-K through 5th. They did their show at the half-time of the football game on Oct. 7th. Each group did a cheer and the entire group danced to "The Cha-Cha Slide". The performance was a smash hit and the audience was pleased, as they showed this by giving all of the performers a standing ovation.

The cheerleaders will finish out the year with four remaining games, then we start Districts. I must say that I am very proud of the remaining six cheerleaders. I think that they have done a wonderful job and deserve to be proud of themselves. I hope that they continue to do the best they can and never get discouraged!

The sponsor of high school cheerleading is Mrs. Melody Hill and the junior high sponsor is Ms. Brandi Shur. Cheerleaders perform and football and basketball games and support our teams throughout the year.
