The Konawa High School building was built in 1973. The superintendent at that time was Mr. A.W. Barrett. The school board members were: President L.M. Maxwell, Vice President Ervin L. Lane, Treasure W. Tucker JR., Clerk Edward Branscum, member Paul Fallis, and member Ben Frank. The general contractor for the high school building was Dura Construction Company. The architect planner for the building was Locke Wright Foster.
The building contains ten classrooms which are used for subjects including history, math, English, art, and science, and two computer labs. There is also a distant learning room in the high school. The Distant Learning Lab is used for senior high students to take college courses from Eastern Oklahoma State College at Wilburton, Oklahoma.
The high school adjoins the Kennedy Library of Konawa and the junior high school building. One of the obvious features of the high school building is the student center which contains most of the lockers, provides seating for students between classes, and has a large bulletin board wall. The secretary's office space, the principal's office, counselor's office, and teacher workroom are also located near the student center.
Another feature of the student center is a "Wall of Fame" where plaques of academic recognition are located. Several Konawa alumni were academic all-state winners or have earned ACT scores over 30. We are proud to display their plaques here.
