Welcome to the campus of Konawa Public School. We are pleased to take you on a virtual tour of our facility. We at Konawa are very proud of our campus. Our community has been fortunate in many ways, including the location of the OG&E Seminole Power Plant in the early 70's and the support of the Konawa citizens. We hope you enjoy your tour of our school.
To view QuickTimeVR panoramas of our campus, select one of the links below. You must have the QuickTime plug in to view these panorams. You can get QuickTime free from Apple Computer . Use your browser's "Back" button to return to this page. Please note that these files are quite large (some over 1 Megabyte).

All of the pictures on this page were taken by three students and our teacher, Mr. Smith. Each picture on the page is a thumbnail image, so clicking on one will give you a bigger version of the same picture. The photo above is an aerial view of our campus taken several years ago, since that time we have added to our facility. If you look closely, you can make out the track and the Konawa lake.
Here is our school mascot--the Konawa tiger. The tiger is wearing a red ribbon which is a symbol for being drug free. The tiger is an inspiration for our school's 800 students. There are a few other pictures of our gym. It is a very nice gymnasium, both for the players and the spectators. There is also a picture of the old gym which it replaced. This is just one example of the progress we have been able to enjoy thanks to the support of our community.
Our staff spends a lot of time and energy keeping our campus looking good. There are trees, shrubs, and flowers around the campus. Behind thecampus we have fields and ponds that we hope to develop into an outdoor classroom. The playground equipment for our elementary students is scheduled for a major upgrade this summer. This a picture of a tulip that is just beginning to grow. They are planted in front of our library. They are very beautiful when they bloom in the spring. Our library is very useful for research and has wonderful books to read. Also above is a picture of one of our pine trees.
This is a picture of our schools administration building. This is a corner shot of the building. Soon, we hope to add QuickTime VR movies to our website so you can get an accurate feeling of how nice our campus is. The people that work in the administration building help deal with the progress and problems of our school. The school board meets in this building.
Now you see several views of our football field. It is a busy place in the summer and fall. The grounds keepers spend many hours each summer watering and caring for the turf. Our football coach is Terry Shamley, and he is assisted by Coaches Dean, Guinn, and Rigney. Football season is a really big deal in Oklahoma. We "light up the hill" on Friday nights, just like every other school in the state. Just about everyone in town turns out for the games. Come watch us play!
This is a picture of our baseball field. Our baseball team is coachedby Mr. Wade Rigney. Our girls softball coach is Jennifer Matthews. The season has not yet started , but will be on its way soon. We are sure that our teams will do well when the games begin.
This is our school track. We have many school meets here and some times our school football team practices here if the regular field is too wet. We have a pretty good track team each year with a lot of talented individuals. Lots of Konawa people come up to the track each afternoon to do their walking and jogging. Our track coaches are Don Gallagher and Terry Shamley. The next picture is of our tennis court. Although we don't have a tennis team, the court is used all the time by the community members. It's nice to have a tennis court in town. The third picture is of our field house. This is where our weight room is housed. We have a lot of students, both boys and girls, who are involved in weight training. Coaches Shamley, Dean, and Rigney are in charge of weight training.
This is our elementary school, inside there are many classrooms. The grades in this particular building range from kindergarten to fourth grade. The fifth and sixth grade have their own building right behind this one--it also has the elementary gym inside. There are about 400 students in the elementary grades. We also have a lot of great teachers in our elementary school. Be sure to check out the faculty page, too!
The next picture is of our junior high. It is actually in the same building as the high school. Sort of a front door-back door affair. We have a student center in each side of the building where students can meet between classes or for special events. The high school building is on the south side. The south west corner is where you'll find the Kennedy Memorial Library. Be sure to visit the web pages for our library, too.
This is our P.A.C. (Preforming Arts Center). It houses our auditorium, the band room, the little kid's music room and other places like these. Inside our auditorium we watch school plays, have our band concerts and listen to speeches by our principal. The P.A.C is a very nice facility that we try to take care.
This a shot of one of our sidewalks. If you look very closely you willsee a piece of gum in the left corner and also yellow fertilizer all over.On the left side of the sidewalk is the junior high school, and on the rightis some grass and you might be able to see part of the elementary cafeteria. We were really curious about the fertilizer--at first we thought maybe itwas Cheeto crumbs.
And that's the tour of our campus. We took all the pictures and made this page one Saturday morning. We hope you enjoyed your tour! We are very proud of our school. The citizens of Konawa are to be thanked for all the support and hard work which they have put into making Konawa's school one of the very best in Oklahoma!
Yours Truly... Lori, Chad, and Lindsey
